I'm proud to be part of this wonderful shop, and have added a product to my range that is exclusive to them!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Made from the same 100% recycled wool that the Fab Blankets in the shop are made from, and featuring beautiful wooden buttons, these ponchos are not just lovely and warm but super stylish too.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Priced at just £30, the only place you can buy them is in the shop itself. The only problem with that is that there's so many beautiful things in there it's hard to come out with just one item!</span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-7371529984074733062016-03-15T21:02:00.001+00:002016-03-15T21:02:54.963+00:00New classes this year<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I know I've been quiet for a little while but I'm slowly building back up in anticipation of Little Man starting nursery and having a couple of regular work days a week again. This coat was a special commission from a good friend who is also a loyal customer (and has been from the start). We had a vision of how it wanted to look, and finding the perfect fabric and buttons was as much of a challenge as getting the coat right!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">In the end we decided on a black poly-blend Melton fabric for the outer layer, and a beautiful blue-black jacquard weave lining fabric with a rose motif on it. Buttons were sourced from Duttons after an extensive look round everywhere.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The coat design itself is fairly simple: full-length with a fitted waist and additional flare at the back to create dramatic movement when she's walking. And, as is only appropriate, a voluminous hood. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Full-length cloaks were the first item that I started to offer on a made to order basis, and they've remained a steady favourite ever since. Most popular are my fleece cloaks with a polyester lining, as they are lovely and warm plus showerproof and can be easily machine washed when needed.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB_nMO9UhIps60F-hiorb0MMGd7dG8FleB0LpAmEXA9goG9185idAbZ4-dZrQXvXuWsq66kswlomiLCdwiOyTzxbNXolwFJm6MPBxRTmkvLOf2xGnlEFJ8MmramjYIPedzGB1CHsX-Wzk/s1600/EK+Cloak+1+-+1+-+w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB_nMO9UhIps60F-hiorb0MMGd7dG8FleB0LpAmEXA9goG9185idAbZ4-dZrQXvXuWsq66kswlomiLCdwiOyTzxbNXolwFJm6MPBxRTmkvLOf2xGnlEFJ8MmramjYIPedzGB1CHsX-Wzk/s1600/EK+Cloak+1+-+1+-+w.jpg" height="320" width="176" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">(I also offer an unlined version, but most people seem to like the opportunity to have a flash of contrasting colour from the lining as they walk)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTRRsJ5BE58nCgNO36tGXBNPV5SkijW-9j4uXcQQOCOy6xEXFCB1ZyUVkLMMJ3ksP9_ebbD08yZC-bVFih-gyR38soE2NwovQfI01aS0jRs7S5vyYfc0fF42IKWjVqafDBT0RRdvtmSaw/s1600/Cloak+-+charcoal+fleece+unlined+2+-+w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTRRsJ5BE58nCgNO36tGXBNPV5SkijW-9j4uXcQQOCOy6xEXFCB1ZyUVkLMMJ3ksP9_ebbD08yZC-bVFih-gyR38soE2NwovQfI01aS0jRs7S5vyYfc0fF42IKWjVqafDBT0RRdvtmSaw/s1600/Cloak+-+charcoal+fleece+unlined+2+-+w.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">In the last year or so I've seen an increase in demand for semi-circular cloaks, which customers generally prefer to have made up in a wool-blend Melton or pure boiled wool. These are truly spectacular garments, quite heavy but super warm due to the amount of fabric you have draped around you.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJvQopuEtijFFKnMk3R84FahfmiiRyDvdEYdVk1ZxulbxaF567QJtiOjVUO7RA1twf_vdjMV2JhRW_IPOu4jovpFp4DAToDXjIMf7uq9ahATV90IQsJ4wkkoYspQxFv9FF-6vTquv7LGs/s1600/SG+cloak+2+-+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJvQopuEtijFFKnMk3R84FahfmiiRyDvdEYdVk1ZxulbxaF567QJtiOjVUO7RA1twf_vdjMV2JhRW_IPOu4jovpFp4DAToDXjIMf7uq9ahATV90IQsJ4wkkoYspQxFv9FF-6vTquv7LGs/s1600/SG+cloak+2+-+1.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I haven't listed the semi-circular cloaks in my online shop yet as price varies quite a bit depending on the length you require, but it is on the list of "things I really need to do". In the meantime I'm happy to do you a quote if you let me know what you're after!</span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-74178555335530287002015-02-25T14:32:00.001+00:002015-02-25T14:32:19.724+00:00A lovely fabric choice on the part of a customer.<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Just a quick post this week to show you a customer's lovely fabric choice. Upon hearing that I was off on maternity leave in the not too distant future one of my regulars went on a little shopping spree at one of the local fabric shops and brought me material to make her a number of dresses to tide her over until I return to work. The dresses themselves are all variations on a style I've made for her before, which we know suits her and she feels good in, but normally she chooses a plain fabric. Not this time though! She fell in love with this fabulous Rose & Hubble stamp print cotton, so I was set the challenge of turning it in to a dress.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have to admit that lining up the pattern repeat of the stamps so that there was no visible break at the waist was a little bit of a challenge, but what a result...</span><br />

There is no big story behind the beginning of these, just that my love of them and my love of wearing them has driven me development of my original pattern. Subsequent alterations / options have evolved from a combination of ideas from my head and requests from customers.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The 'true' original design is the fleece outer, polyester lining and rounded hood:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBYU92sFjscAPfavGpSsFQHWQU5-OpxWuDYrPUqCOz-iK3dde1FgKA_ywUxXJtSa4palL2WQTA632iFFz0xDcUnjsFNGYPsK6zDlHG95dYIEfoOd7hY9HL5b7Sh55sXtnZSb8KwDYqu7U/s1600/cape+-+black+&+spotted+lining+-+full+view.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBYU92sFjscAPfavGpSsFQHWQU5-OpxWuDYrPUqCOz-iK3dde1FgKA_ywUxXJtSa4palL2WQTA632iFFz0xDcUnjsFNGYPsK6zDlHG95dYIEfoOd7hY9HL5b7Sh55sXtnZSb8KwDYqu7U/s1600/cape+-+black+&+spotted+lining+-+full+view.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">After this design was tried and tested fully I added in the option to have a pointed hood instead:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK3WY9KlzMQQV6ldMJK88LWBXK_NyVoIrJaF_cUFGFIgiZg69jhtgvc4EHaRG94vVTWsr0phTDlNaeaU6CnCFvTF9qCK8Ipjd0oIN1h43Emqnz5lXKujmpaVKbJI7lESxnG0ZFYwT0fco/s1600/Cape+-+olive+w+pointed+hood+-+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK3WY9KlzMQQV6ldMJK88LWBXK_NyVoIrJaF_cUFGFIgiZg69jhtgvc4EHaRG94vVTWsr0phTDlNaeaU6CnCFvTF9qCK8Ipjd0oIN1h43Emqnz5lXKujmpaVKbJI7lESxnG0ZFYwT0fco/s1600/Cape+-+olive+w+pointed+hood+-+1.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Next step - other materials! I wanted to offer a wool version but didn't want the colours to be limited to just a few shades. Fortunately I found a supplier that can offer a wide range, and what a range that is:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4-R4seg1VyFVZPsmK9o4OQw2ZmB9a5VDp2BC4-EPQ0JujdvQjppHzmYAsFYbRf4deqQC0OugSCoRXgtUFxNRkQa1EDOn5OVcso0U5egDK2hLlf9HyazEU7tEpoyoHo_FUPKoEjKAcrok/s1600/boiled-wool-for-capes-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4-R4seg1VyFVZPsmK9o4OQw2ZmB9a5VDp2BC4-EPQ0JujdvQjppHzmYAsFYbRf4deqQC0OugSCoRXgtUFxNRkQa1EDOn5OVcso0U5egDK2hLlf9HyazEU7tEpoyoHo_FUPKoEjKAcrok/s1600/boiled-wool-for-capes-1.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRO_qEG10lzZlHKcYJKuEm7p0lf5lf3elInH_cxn2eCquOLcbWJGm3vrMXLBTy-js34uyR5PCBBxbL1_Va_bHMdcDzO6iCaDiC8PjKKeTNrjOfIDHTl1U57IYXtKasz6z6236kr9ocRrc/s1600/boiled-wool-for-capes-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRO_qEG10lzZlHKcYJKuEm7p0lf5lf3elInH_cxn2eCquOLcbWJGm3vrMXLBTy-js34uyR5PCBBxbL1_Va_bHMdcDzO6iCaDiC8PjKKeTNrjOfIDHTl1U57IYXtKasz6z6236kr9ocRrc/s1600/boiled-wool-for-capes-2.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmrEREndLitUM_Cjm0CYyM2Shaztn-XmofHldNW5ED058Z4D8hpkW9WZ-hSJ2fxboAeKfm1eDacRoKZ2u-Bk9UzrR3Mh5LXmu9vjqWYvxWxFbtSzMdoQrEntqZn318KGzWk8gkHkfltCc/s1600/boiled-wool-for-capes-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmrEREndLitUM_Cjm0CYyM2Shaztn-XmofHldNW5ED058Z4D8hpkW9WZ-hSJ2fxboAeKfm1eDacRoKZ2u-Bk9UzrR3Mh5LXmu9vjqWYvxWxFbtSzMdoQrEntqZn318KGzWk8gkHkfltCc/s1600/boiled-wool-for-capes-3.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">And most recently? Capes with armholes part way across the front. In either hood design and any fabric, the overall shape of the cape remains the same.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">So where will I go next with them? I seem to be always looking at waterproof pvc options and I'm working on my pattern and design for that but this year's personal events may delay release a little bit. I'm always happy to custom make though, and have a variety of one-offs in a few designs and fabrics (including some velvets and lace) for sale either on <a href="http://www.rowantreedesigns.co.uk/shop/shop-capes.html" target="_blank">my website</a> or in <a href="http://www.fabric-ation.co.uk/" target="_blank">Fabrication</a> in Leeds. </span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-46560395174839791462015-02-05T09:36:00.000+00:002015-02-05T09:36:01.092+00:00Winter product highlight: fleece wraps<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In this week's product highlight I'm going to take a look at my fleece wraps. The design for these came about because although I love wearing a pashmina as an extra layer it is sometimes frustrating that they don't stay further down your back when you have them wrapped round your shoulders, and sometimes they're just not warm enough. So the design for the wrap was born - long enough that it covers most of your back, wide enough that you can wrap it elegantly round your shoulders, and made from a soft, warm but practical fabric.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglois_zvqp5sLsPx0BtOEvncC8F4uoSMHl6SmzJQySZO4D7u_PB55jf1HP8jg6Eue72RDcBcReJcaASfGrCsp-MnwZcdg1obN6FpTmkQqPwoD-tRtvXnk7_iWoBUVGyoFRFbrqykeOYDo/s1600/Wrap+-+charcoal+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglois_zvqp5sLsPx0BtOEvncC8F4uoSMHl6SmzJQySZO4D7u_PB55jf1HP8jg6Eue72RDcBcReJcaASfGrCsp-MnwZcdg1obN6FpTmkQqPwoD-tRtvXnk7_iWoBUVGyoFRFbrqykeOYDo/s1600/Wrap+-+charcoal+2.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I have to admit that while I love them myself they have surprised me with their popularity, selling well both at fairs and in <a href="http://www.fabric-ation.co.uk/" target="_blank">Fabrication</a> and online - I've sent several to the US already this year!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I try to keep Fabrication stocked with a rotating range of colours, but I'm always happy to take orders for custom colours if you can't find what you'd like. The same applies to orders from my <a href="http://www.rowantreedesigns.co.uk/shop/shop-clothing.html" target="_blank">online shop</a>.</span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-4140951694405314722015-01-29T09:19:00.001+00:002015-01-29T09:19:27.645+00:00Winter product highlight: wristwarmers<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I thought I'd spend the next few blog posts giving you some more details behind some of my "off the peg" products that are perfect for the winter weather we've been having, starting with my wristwarmers!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These come in two styles: with thumbhole, and slightly shorter without thumbhole. The shorter style are actually the ones that came first, starting off life as a personal solution for keeping my hands warm on the freezing cold front edge of my sewing machine and then put on sale after people kept asking me about them. They've been a good stalwart but have definitely been overtaken in popularity by the second version I made.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiWIb388Yiy349L65ooTp1TognPWbDJtBLah8coGbs7ZQxiLcK-dlxlEbrkhgMGYbadVsxZTXs76ZqRx1ewzyu2uVxvUhMuw3fNfyVdZZPO7GzpEqaFi9vROvG0opMW61UiRdHL7fhnDI/s1600/gauntlets+-+black+fleece+2+-+cropped.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiWIb388Yiy349L65ooTp1TognPWbDJtBLah8coGbs7ZQxiLcK-dlxlEbrkhgMGYbadVsxZTXs76ZqRx1ewzyu2uVxvUhMuw3fNfyVdZZPO7GzpEqaFi9vROvG0opMW61UiRdHL7fhnDI/s1600/gauntlets+-+black+fleece+2+-+cropped.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Version two is the (currently more popular) longer version with a thumbhole. This version got added to sale after requests from friends, and has two advantages over the shorter version: they're longer and thus warmer and suitable for wearing instead of gloves on autumn days, and the thumbhole stops them from twisting round under your top while you're wearing them.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlbKbqSZfGIBRzF2wbgDA5-BGc5WQLy8eQUR2GOGe8c0rZ4_-r2x_N4XzRrua39xQNK7qIvdWuUpRLA4d1ZMPLfrDPlYq1ufZ9ZQ3Q7G8-K3umwTId96bE73vbwz5iJDJ6wjfzW5UDIHY/s1600/Wristwarmers+-+long+version+square.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlbKbqSZfGIBRzF2wbgDA5-BGc5WQLy8eQUR2GOGe8c0rZ4_-r2x_N4XzRrua39xQNK7qIvdWuUpRLA4d1ZMPLfrDPlYq1ufZ9ZQ3Q7G8-K3umwTId96bE73vbwz5iJDJ6wjfzW5UDIHY/s1600/Wristwarmers+-+long+version+square.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I tend to have the longer version ready-made up in a wider range of colours that the short ones but as always I'm happy to make you a custom pair in any colour you chose. Both are available to purchase from <a href="http://www.rowantreedesigns.co.uk/shop/shop-accessories.html" target="_blank">my online shop</a>, and there is a basket full of the longer version for you to try on and buy in<a href="http://www.fabric-ation.co.uk/" target="_blank"> Fabrication</a> in The Light, Leeds. </span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-25890769730051057402015-01-15T10:13:00.000+00:002015-01-15T10:13:55.284+00:00Workshop info<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We've all done it - welcomed in the New Year and made plans that this will be the year we learn new skills. I barely had time to catch my breath between sewing sessions to get all the orders done and keep my area in Fabrication in Leeds fully stocked. Rather than bore you with a post per cape/cloak, here's a round up of some of the beautiful custom pieces which left my workroom in December...</span><br />

I'm back going full-steam ahead on various other projects now, but not before I share a few pictures of the finished dress with you (it's ok, the wedding was on Saturday, I'm not spoiling any surprises!)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This was a full-length wedding dress custom designed and made for this bride. Fully structured, it's made from a satin underlay covered with beautiful beaded lace. All the lace edging and the button detailing was applied by hand.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The bride was delighted with it (phew!) and I have to agree, it's a lovely dress and the style she chose suited her to a T!</span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-60047423441976457592014-09-10T10:46:00.000+01:002014-09-10T10:50:00.628+01:00An update on my Fabrication stock<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">An update on my stock in Fabrication for you today, as I made a few changes when I was in store last week in preparation for the upcoming cooler weather</span>.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Firstly, I've added a selection basket (literally) of my ever popular wristwarmers. I've tried to put in a range of colours and will keep it topped up with as much variety as I can but if you can't find the colour you're looking for you can place an order for a custom pair and I'll drop them in store for you next time I'm over (which is usually once a fortnight)</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0lLK2_lAdjfnSCLA-Ob02Nr5CBLs-wU2QkNcHy41DpjpuSJiLXBhhkOV0w_sZbTRzvzfohADXzmrrdEKyTzlVrmFEMKOtD_WKLa7WFxvDoTQsPsgFbbHXsNHNnMezQynQNlG9mCbt63M/s1600/wristwarmers+in+fabrication.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0lLK2_lAdjfnSCLA-Ob02Nr5CBLs-wU2QkNcHy41DpjpuSJiLXBhhkOV0w_sZbTRzvzfohADXzmrrdEKyTzlVrmFEMKOtD_WKLa7WFxvDoTQsPsgFbbHXsNHNnMezQynQNlG9mCbt63M/s1600/wristwarmers+in+fabrication.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Priced at £9 a pair these wristwarmers are perfect for keeping your arms warm under a cardigan in a chilly office, under a coat on a day when you don't want to wear gloves, when doing the gardening... the list could go on. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Secondly, in order to clear some space for some of my winter stock I've reduced the price on the last few of these vest tops, from £25 down to £15 - an absolute bargain for something handmade in limited numbers!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Once these are gone I won't be making any more until next summer, so grab one while you can! </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Second, a lightweight linen/cotton blend cape for summer wear (they were dispatched to her in time for her holiday so she could take it with her!) with a pretty button closure:</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Third, a cape made in the colours of her rugby team (Northampton Saints, in case you're wondering). I think this is a great idea, if I followed a team myself I'd definitely have one in their colours for me! </span><br />

Made from a lovely thick weight light charcoal jersey, this really a dress which hugs every curve and shows off the figure inside!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAG8QzR0t1xMGUH5tynO0rsd__dvgllE2-rekXlWCgynN6SVawbyHEzTGh4R-QekS-zA05Bg6g4kRCicQq_vrg5D5TodcFMn0zadIYLB4u8fRACTnlEQ2IAEpCLUK_7CxEijIeuwtm2os/s1600/CT+dress+-+1+-+w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAG8QzR0t1xMGUH5tynO0rsd__dvgllE2-rekXlWCgynN6SVawbyHEzTGh4R-QekS-zA05Bg6g4kRCicQq_vrg5D5TodcFMn0zadIYLB4u8fRACTnlEQ2IAEpCLUK_7CxEijIeuwtm2os/s1600/CT+dress+-+1+-+w.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">(you can see where my mannequin's 'hips' finish by when the ruching on the seam starts - if I'd time I'd have worked out something to add more structure to the lower half to show of the curves better, but c'est la vie, you'll just have to imagine it not doing that on the real person!)</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This was a drop-shoulder blouse with gathered sleeves and slight bust gathering, made from a cotton cheesecloth-esque material that the customer brought to me.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">And finished with cute heart and flower shell buttons that the customer chose after a trip to Duttons! </span> <br />

The commission pictured below is a case in point - the bridesmaids dresses were a slightly unusual colour but the couple got in touch and I was able to find them an almost perfect match for the ties.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Problem solved, and five custom made ties for the Groom's party...</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This one's a little bit different to the sequinned number I showed in my last post, being duchess satin and there being a lot less of it, but equally stunning in it's own right. A satin skirt and ruched satin bodice front were connected by a number of embellished straps to make a really eye-catching dress!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">From the front:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And the back:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Despite its flimsy appearance it fit the girl it was made for like a glove and wasn't at all precariously positioned when it was on her, quite an achievement I feel! </span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-27382653037674101242014-06-28T16:35:00.000+01:002014-06-28T16:35:16.279+01:00Sequins!<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A post today to show you a few pictures of one of the prom dresses that I've finished in the last week. It's a lovely dress, elegant in the simplicity of the shape (which works so well with her willowey figure) but also modern in the fact that the material is small matt sequins.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">From the front the dress looks like a very modest number, with long sleeves and a reasonably high neckline.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And as is inevitable with sequins I'm still finding them on the floor despite having vacuumed since the dress left my workshop, it seems like they hide and creep out when I'm not looking! </span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-64076327351769382162014-06-25T10:57:00.000+01:002014-06-25T10:57:25.546+01:00Photos from a happy customer<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Following on from my previous post, I'm delighted to be able to share a few photos with you of a beautiful bride and her lovely bridesmaids on her wedding day.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">First, her dress: a simple full-length strapless dress with an off the shoulder band that also went round her arms.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have seen photos of the wedding day and they all looked absolutely gorgeous, I'm waiting for permission to share them with you all though, so you'll have to keep your fingers crossed for now! </span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-47918773895217190342014-05-30T18:17:00.000+01:002014-05-30T18:17:03.196+01:00A family of waistcoats<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Not a long post today, or one with a lot of photos, but I just wanted to show you a picture of one of my finished commissions this week - a family of waistcoats for cousins of varying ages to wear for a wedding. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These came about after chatting to the bride when she brought her dress in for alteration, as she was struggling to find anything that went across the three ages in a colour that she wanted them to wear. Fortunately she was able to find the perfect colour at Fletcher's (the back is a two-tone material with a blue 'flash' that matches the front) and I was able to do the rest for her...</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This dress came about from one such garment that had been a faithful friend for 20-odd years, that a customer brought in to me with the challenge of creating a replacement that fitted in the same way and made her feel as good wearing it. It's not an identical copy but keeps the overall style and fit.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Made from jade double-knit jersey, it has moulded cups, spaghetti straps and a thigh-high split on her left-hand side.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Have you got an old favourite that you wish could go on forever but just isn't going to do so? If so, why not consider getting a replacement made, it might be a more practical idea than you think!</span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-2883614618524873082014-05-07T11:37:00.000+01:002014-05-07T11:37:00.425+01:00A coat to make a goth happy!<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This coat was finished just in time to be taken and worn to Whitby Goth Festival, and on the Friday they arrived I had a text from the customer informing me that he was the "only goth that's happy that it's misty and cold in Whitby". I think I can safely say that the coat was a success!!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This was a full-length coat made from black wool melton, with contrasting charcoal melton cuffs and pocket flap, and lined with a very lovely silver jacquard fabric lining. The buttons were from Duttons (of course, we're in York!) and chosen by the customer to match the lining.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">First, a picture of the whole coat...</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm really quite proud of this, I'm not a traditionally trained tailor but I still think I did a pretty good job, and the customer was pleased with it which is the most important part after all!!</span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4303041962171787498.post-49963253989018867422014-05-02T11:11:00.000+01:002014-05-02T11:11:00.421+01:00And another happy bride...<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The previous post made me realise that I'd completely forgotten to share a photo of from another of my brides. A slightly different project this time - this was the lovely lady I made <a href="http://blog.rowantreedesigns.co.uk/2013/07/beautiful-satin-wedding-gown.html" target="_blank">this dress</a> and <a href="http://blog.rowantreedesigns.co.uk/2013/07/accesories-to-match-wedding-gown.html" target="_blank">these accessories</a> for last year...</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I wished them congratulations, happiness and a long life together at the time but I guess it doesn't hurt to do so again! </span>Rowan Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10995059720563197509noreply@blogger.com0
